Lexhag VFX Virtual Production Shoot With October Studios Gets Green Light
We are very excited to announce Lexhag VFX will collaborate with October Studios on a Virtual production project. We’ll build an LED volume with 80six and use real-time environments to test the feasibility of bringing locations into a studio environment. Our aim is to make this new method of filmmaking more accessible to a broader range of TV clients.
Virtual production can reduce the need for on-location shoots and offer a better alternative to traditional green screens, with seamless dynamic backgrounds that give more realistic in-camera results. With ongoing pandemic related travel restrictions, filmmakers are looking at virtual production technology as a solution that can bring distant locations into a controlled studio environment.
“The pandemic has accelerated the need, but it’s the results we see so far that are exciting,” said Alexis Haggar, Founder and Creative Director at Lexhag. “The light and reflections on a virtual production stage create a much more realistic effect without the need for lengthy post-production. It’s all in-camera.”
The project is supported by the New Anglia Growth Through Innovation Fund, which is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
Results are expected in June.
