For the Silent Witness episode “Trust”, Lexhag performed some hot effects on a sequence that was somewhat lacking in heat. Taking place inside a ‘burning barn’, the practical effects of the sequence didn’t meet the production expectations due to limitations at the location.

We started by rotoscoping and tracking objects and people in the scene that would burn or be surrounded by fire. Using stock elements, clips for each shot were composited into place. Our first pass focused on postion, intensity and storyline. With the director’s approval, we then locked all elements in place and moved onto the finessing stage.

The end result was both risk-free and utterly convincing.
