The elements for this short teaser for The Following were supplied in two individual parts: the footage of Kevin Bacon, and the hands.

The two separate elements were in different formats, which presented texture, size and quality discrepancies. When it came to compositing the two assets together, the footage was hand-rotoscoped, frame by frame in order to effectively combine it with the hands.

The painstaking task of adding shadows was then undertaken; matching the movements of the hands exactly and taking into account how the lines of Kevin’s face would affect how the shadows behaved.
